With the leaves twirling down in beautiful color, today I thought I would share an autumn poem written by James Buckham.<\/p>\n
\nSong of Autumn<\/strong><\/p>\nHo for the bending sheaves,
\nHo for the crimson leaves
\nFlaming in splendor!<\/p>\n
Season of ripened gold,
\nPlenty in crib and fold.
\nSkies with depth untold,
\nLiquid and tender.<\/p>\n
Far, like the smile of God,
\nSee how the golden-rod
\nRipples and tosses!<\/p>\n
Yonder, a crimson vine
\nTrails from a bearded pine,
\nThin as a thread of wine
\nStaining the mosses.<\/p>\n
Bright ‘neath the morning blue
\nSparkles the frosted dew,
\nGem-like and starry.<\/p>\n
Hark how the partridge cock
\nPipes to his scattered flock,
\nMindful how swift the hawk
\nDarts on his quarry!<\/p>\n
Autumn is here again…
\nBanners on hill and plain
\nBlazing and flying.<\/p>\n
Hail to the amber morn,
\nHail to the heaped-up corn,
\nHail to the hunter’s horn,
\nSwelling and dying!<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Happy Autumn (and Happy Thanksgiving to those in the U.S.)!<\/p>\n
